DHAKA, Oct 8 (NNN-BSS) – A total of 496 people were killed and 681 others injured, in 467 accidents on roads, railways and waterways, in Bangladesh last month, according to a report published here yesterday.
According to Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity, a passenger welfare association, 417 people were killed and 651 injured in 402 road accidents throughout this month, so far.
Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, secretary general of the organisation, revealed the information at a press release in the capital, Dhaka.
Besides road crashes, 51 people were killed and 26 were injured in railway-related accidents, last month. Also, 28 died, four suffered injuries and three went missing in waterway accidents, in the month.
The organisation said, it collected the data based on reports by national dailies, online news portals and electronic media in the country.– NNN-BSS
