India To Hold Unmanned Flight Tests For Crewed Space Mission: Space Agency

NEW DELHI, Oct 8 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), yesterday said that it would soon commence the unmanned flight tests for its crewed space mission “Gaganyaan.”

“ISRO to commence unmanned flight tests for the Gaganyaan mission. Preparations for the Flight Test Vehicle Abort Mission-1 (TV-D1), which demonstrates the performance of the Crew Escape System, are underway,” said the ISRO in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In a statement, the ISRO said that, the Crew Module (CM), where the astronauts are contained in a pressurised earth-like atmospheric condition, was in different stages of development.

The CM in this mission was extensively instrumented, to capture the flight data for evaluation of the performance of various systems. It would be recovered after touchdown in the Bay of Bengal, using a dedicated vessel and diving team from the Indian Navy, ISRO added.– NNN-PTI
