Myanmar Exported Over 1,200 Tonnes Of Honey In Six Months

YANGON, Oct 7 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar exported 1,253 tonnes of honey worth over 1.879 million U.S. dollars, in the first six months of the 2023-24 fiscal year, through next March, the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department said, yesterday.

In the 2022-23 fiscal year, Myanmar exported more than 1,900 tonnes of honey, earning over 2.8 million U.S. dollars, the department said.

Availability of quality honey leads to an increase in honey purchases. In addition, the department has launched a national surveillance programme on food safety, which helps ensure the quality of honey for export, according to a department official.

The country exported the honey to Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and South Korea, the official said.

Myanmar’s animal product exports, including honey, were valued at 4.004 million U.S. dollars, during the Apr-Sept period this year, showed data from the Ministry of Commerce.– NNN-MNA
