UNION CITY (California, US), Oct 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Police arrested a suspect in Mountain View after one person was killed and two others injured in a stabbing at a mobile home park in Union City.
According to Union City police, officers were called to The Tropics mobile home park at 33300 block of Almaden Boulevard shortly after 7:45 a.m. Thursday on reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found three people suffering from injuries.
Officers performed life-saving measures, but one of the victims was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other victims were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Authorities did not release the victim’s name. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
In an update Thursday afternoon, Union City police Sgt. Jean Jimenez said that responding officers found the suspect driving one of the victim’s vehicles. The suspect led police on a chase but had lost track of him after he started driving erratically.
Officers determined that the suspect was 21-year-old Carlos Daniel Hernandez of Mountain View. Authorities in Mountain View located the vehicle and arrested Hernandez.
According to Jimenez, Hernandez was being transported from Mountain View to Union City for questioning Thursday afternoon. Officers believe Hernandez acted alone and there are no other suspects.
Police did not disclose the motive for the attack. The incident remains under investigation. — NNN-AGENCIES
