YANGON, Sept 28 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized 435 kilograms of crystal meth in the country’s central region of Mandalay, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) late yesterday.
Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotics police searched a motorcycle and a vehicle, in Yamethin Township in the region, on Sept 24, and confiscated the narcotic drugs, the statement said.
The seized narcotics are worth approximately 8.7 billion kyats (over 4.14 million U.S. dollars), and two suspects were arrested in the case, the CCDAC said. Investigation showed that the narcotic drugs came from Shan state, it said.
The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.– NNN-MNA
