HANOI, Sept 27 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnamese airports welcomed 23.7 million foreign passengers in the first nine months of this year, an extraordinary growth of 266.8 percent, compared to the same period last year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
That has shown the gradual recovery of the country’s international aviation market.
Vietnamese airlines transported 44.1 million passengers during this period, a surge of 20.3 percent, year on year. Among those passengers, 11.5 million were foreigners, soaring over 300 percent.
Vietnam’s international air transport market, continues to maintain its recovery momentum for the most traditional markets, and has some new markets in Central Asia, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. Some routes to Australia and India have seen an expansion of flight services.
According to experts, the open-door policies of nations, particularly those in Northeast Asia, are the major reason behind the increase in foreign travellers to Vietnam.
Vietnam welcomed more than 7.8 million international visitors in the first eight months of this year, within touching distance from the eight million target set for the whole year, according to the General Statistics Office.– NNN-VNA
