Jordan Condemns Breaking Into Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound By Extremist Jewish Settlers under Israeli Forces’ Protection

AMMAN, Sept 18 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s Foreign Ministry, yesterday strongly condemned the break-in by extremist Jewish settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, under the protection of the Israeli police.

The ministry said, the acts represent a violation of the historical status and legal status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and a desecration of holy places, according to a statement by the ministry.

Ministry’s Spokesperson, Sanan Al-Majali, called on Israel to cease all actions and violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to respect its sanctity.

Israeli forces attacked Muslim worshippers yesterday morning, at Bab as-Silsila, also known as the Chain Gate, one of the main entrances to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the official Palestinian News Agency reported.

Israeli media said, there were no serious disturbances at the site, and only minor scuffles were reported between police and Palestinians, as Jewish visitors toured the site.

The Jordanian official warned against the continuation of these violations and emphasised the necessity of respecting that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.– NNN-PETRA
