DHAKA, Sept 15 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh’s national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, resumed the flight between Dhaka and the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou yesterday, said a statement by the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh.
According to the statement, following the resumption, there are now six round-trip flights on this route weekly, with a capacity of 900 passengers. The flight had been suspended before, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The resumption will increase the total number of weekly flights between China and Bangladesh to 50, including 30 flights to and from Guangzhou, 14 flights to and from Kunming, and six flights to and from Hong Kong.
“Weekly passenger capacity will exceed 10,000, which will further facilitate the people-to-people exchange between China and Bangladesh, and enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, culture, education, and more,” said the statement.
Since 2023, cross-border travel has increased sharply between China and Bangladesh. The Chinese embassy in Bangladesh has been working actively to create favourable conditions and improve efficiency for visa applications, and issued over 30,000 visas in the past six months.– NNN-BSS
