NEW DELHI, Sept 15 (NNN-PTI) – Eight people were injured last night, after a private small aircraft crash landed amid heavy rains, at the airport in Mumbai, local media reported.
Eight people, including three crew members, were on board, when the plane skidded off the runway and snapped into two parts on landing.
Following the accident, the runway operations at the airport were put on hold for some time, resulting in delays in arrival and departure of flights.
A brief statement issued by the airport said, the runway excursion involved a Learjet 45 aircraft VT-DBL, operating a flight from Vizag to Mumbai. The runway was open for operations after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) clearance, at 6:47 p.m. local time.
Reports said, visibility at the time of the incident at the airport was 700 metres.
Closed-circuit television camera footage of the crash shows the plane striking the ground with considerable force and the aircraft body skidding along the ground.– NNN-PTI
