LIMA, Sept 13 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum has approved the financing of 14 multilateral cooperation projects presented by Peru at the Committee on Trade and Investment and its working groups, ahead of the Peruvian presidency of APEC in 2024.
Among the principal projects approved are issues such as the economic empowerment of women through trade policy and trade agreements, the use of electronic bills of lading, transparency in the supply chain, green customs, consumer protection, cultural and creative digital industries, among others.
These initiatives were prepared and coordinated with various institutions such as the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi), the National Institute of Quality (Inacal), the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (Sunat), the Agency for Environmental Assessment and Enforcement (OEFA), the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion), as well as Mincetur.
In total, the 14 initiatives presented will receive a total funding of US$1.729 million.
These projects, to be executed between January and December next year, will result in 12 capacity building events, one pilot project on product traceability, and one research study.
“Mincetur highlights the fluent coordination and communication with several sectors, which have allowed us to get this major funding from APEC,” said Carlos Mathews, the sector’s head.
“Their permanent interest in actively participating at the APEC information Desk, which we organize, shows that the country is committed to the upcoming presidency,” he added.
The APEC Information Desk is a space promoted by Mincetur, which gathers all sectors and related entities, through which key information on the cooperation forum and its financing opportunities is shared.
The last one was held on Aug 29 and shared the results of projects. — NNN-ANDINA
