LIMA, Sept 12 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru’s Pres Dina Boluarte reiterated that the Government will be firm in the fight against narcoterrorism and citizen insecurity.
“In light of the tireless fight against narcoterrorism and citizen insecurity, my message is clear: we are and will be firm in the fight against narcoterrorism, which in recent days took the lives of four brave soldiers in the country and to whose families we reiterate our condolences,” she said.
Remarks were made at a press conference in which she presented the fourth assessment of the progress made by her government.
The Head of State emphasized that she will not give up in that fight nor in the task of ensuring safety for all Peruvians.
Within this context, she explained that, to date, more than 56 tons of drugs have been seized, 80 criminal organizations have been dismantled, 174 firearms have been seized, interdiction actions have been carried out on 38 clandestine landing strips, 348 operations against trafficking in persons have been carried out, and 110 suspects included on ‘the most wanted list’ were captured.
She admitted that one of the issues of prime concern to citizens and entrepreneurs is citizen insecurity and extortion by mafias that charge quotas and harass people.
“That is why we have established a permanent police presence in the Gamarra commercial emporium,“ she highlighted.
In addition, Boluarte reiterated that the Executive Branch is still waiting for the Congress of the Republic to approve the request for delegation of powers to legislate on matters of public safety, among other issues.
These special powers will enable the making of more than 30 regulations to provide the National Police with better tools to fight extortion calls and scam messages, as well as to dismantle criminal organizations. — NNN-ANDINA
