LIMA, Sept 12 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte on Monday affirmed that the priority of the current Government is the sustained recovery of the economy and investments, as well as the provision of better services like education, water and sanitation, order and security, among others.

Moreover, the Head of State stressed that her administration is unlocking important projects to improve the living conditions of Peruvians and ensure their social development.

Remarks were made at a press conference in which she presented the fourth assessment of the progress made by her government.

“In this last period, we have given priority to a sustained recovery of our economy and investments. Besides, we have addressed key sectors such as health, education, water and sanitation, prevention against El Niño Phenomenon, and the promotion of order and citizen security, among other non-minor issues that citizens demand,” she stated.

Regarding health, the President indicated that constant efforts are being made to unblock stalled projects and that eight health establishments have been inaugurated so far, including large hospitals, such as the Cañete Regional Hospital, as well as those of Atalaya in Ucayali, Chulucanas in Piura, Alto Inclan in Arequipa, and Pichari in Cusco.

“The total investment for these projects amounts to over S/641 million (around US$46.5 million), for the benefit of millions of Peruvians who now have the possibility of receiving medical care in a modern infrastructure and through state-of-the-art equipment,” Boluarte stressed.

Furthermore, she reported that the number of health interventions has increased and that more than 1.1 million children —aged two months to five years— have been vaccinated against polio and measles.

“Health is a right. Today, under this Government, we return that right, which was lost after years of oblivion and neglect,” she emphasized.

On corruption, Boluarte stressed that her administration will continue working to fight corruption and improve the lives of citizens throughout the national territory.

“We will continue working on this frontal fight against corruption, regardless of who is involved. If we encounter a similar situation along the way, we will put the government official aside and will continue moving forward,” she said.

In this regard, she affirmed that the Executive Branch, together with other government officials, are committed to solving the problems of the population, which have been set aside in recent years.

Rest assured that this Government and this President, together with the Executive Branch and other government officials, will not touch a cent of your money to solve all the problems that historically have not been addressed, she stated.

Moreover, Boluarte assured that, under her administration, the assessment of the progress made by each sector will continue to be reported every two months.

“We will continue to do so in the next 35 months when we will have to shape the country’s destinies,” she added.

On the other hand, the President confirmed that her administration will never adopt measures or bills that could harm the broad freedom of the press, noting that the Government is open to responding to the media.

“We are not going to prevent the investigation works and daily news from getting to the Peruvian population freely, spontaneously, and meeting the competencies and the freedom of the press that everyone has,” she said.

Finally, the Head of State reported that the National Infrastructure Authority (ANIN) will come into operation on January 1, 2024 and that the regulations for said institution are being prepared. — NNN-ANDINA
