HAVANA, Sept 11 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The 14th Nicolás Guillén Colloquium and Festival will be held in Havana from May 8 to 10, 2024, according to the event’s organizers, and it will focus on the life and work of Cuba’s National Poet.
The event will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of his poetry book “West Indies Ltd.,” the 60th anniversary of “Tengo” (I Have), another of his most renowned books of poetry, and the 80th birthday of writer and essayist Nancy Morejon, winner of the National Literature Award.
According to the Nicolás Guillén Foundation, the meeting will address fundamental theme axes, including a reflection on the challenges and perspectives of social inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean in the last few decades.
The Foundation said that lectures, panels, debates, book launches, exhibitions, audiovisual screenings, concerts and poetry readings will take place during the colloquium and festival.
Born in Camagüey, in central Cuba, Nicolás Guillén (1902-1989) has an extensive work that started at a young age, when he began to publish articles for his hometown newspaper and poems that were not published at the time. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
