S. Korea’s Export Fell 7.9 Percent In First 10 Days Of Sept

SEOUL, Sept 11 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea’s export kept falling for the first 10 days of this month, due to continued slump in semiconductor shipment, customs office data showed, today.

Export came to 14.86 billion U.S. dollars in the Sept 1-10 period, down 7.9 percent from the same period of last year, according to Korea Customs Service.

The daily average export declined 14.5 percent in the 10-day period. The outbound shipment kept skidding for the 11th consecutive month through Aug.

Chip export tumbled 28.2 percent, while shipment for oil products, auto parts, precision machinery and computers retreated in double figures.

Car shipment advanced 32.4 percent, and export for steel products and mobile devices gained ground in the 10-day period.

Import diminished 11.3 percent from a year earlier to 16.50 billion dollars, for the first 10 days of Sept, sending the trade deficit to 1.64 billion dollars.– NNN-YONHAP
