Road Accident Killed Three, Injured Five In East Afghanistan

MEHTARLAM, Afghanistan, Sept 6 (NNN-ANA) – Three commuters were killed and five others injured, in a road accident in east Afghanistan’s Laghman province yesterday, according to a statement of the provincial police.

The statement added that, the incident occurred on the Kabul-Nangarhar highway, when two cars collided, leaving three dead and five others injured.

All the injured have been taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and some of them are in critical condition.

This is the third road accident in the mountainous country since Monday morning. Earlier, two road accidents claimed the lives of three travellers and injured another in Kapisa and Helmand provinces on Monday afternoon.

Ramshackle roads, old vehicles, lack of safety measures during travel and reckless driving on congested highways are the main reasons for road accidents in the country, where nearly 400 people were reportedly killed in road mishaps over the past three months.– NNN-ANA
