LIMA, Aug 31 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte called for the unity of all citizens —after having participated in a ceremony to honor Santa Rosa de Lima (St. Rose of Lima) outside the Government Palace.

In brief statements to reporters, Boluarte disclosed that, as an act of faith, she had asked the Patroness of the Americas for Peru’s development.

“(I ask for) calm, serenity, so that Peru continues to develop with all Peruvians standing united. We need to stand united to move Peru forward,” she expressed.

The Head of State reminded citizens that Coastal El Niño phenomenon is looming, which is why the Government continues with intensified work in the country’s northern area, just like droughts are being faced in the south.

“What do we ask Santa Rosita de Lima for? (We ask her) to keep us united, strong, and supportive,” she added.

The top official once again requested that Congress approve promptly the request for legislative powers issued by the Executive Branch in matters of citizen security.

“We hope that Congress will grant us those (legislative) powers so that we can apply, above all, the plan against citizen insecurity. There we go, Peru is back,” she pointed out.

During the homage to Santa Rosa de Lima, the Head of State was joined by Ministers Jorge Chavez Cresta (Defense) and Vicente Romero (Interior).

Every Aug 30, devotees arrive at St. Rose of Lima’s Sanctuary to express their faith and requests to the Patroness of the Americas and the Philippines.

This date is considered a national holiday. — NNN-ANDINA
