Over Three Tonnes Of ICE, 30.86 Million Stimulant Tablets Seized In Myanmar

YANGON, Aug 31 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities have seized over three tonnes of methamphetamine (ICE), 30.86 million stimulant tablets and ammunition, in Mandalay and Yangon regions, according to the Myanmar Police Force yesterday.

A combined team, consisting of members of the anti-drug police force, searched a vehicle in Thazi Township, Mandalay region, on Aug 13, confiscated three tonnes of ICE, 29 million stimulant tablets and 20,000 bullets, it said.

According to the interrogation, police seized 1.86 million stimulant tablets and 4.8 kg ICE from the suspects’ home in Thingangyun Township, Yangon region, on Aug 15, it added.

The seized narcotics are worth over 105.37 billion kyats (about 50 million U.S. dollars), said the police.

The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.– NNN-MNA
