Venezuelan president shuffles cabinet
Venezuela's President Maduro addresses the media in Caracas

CARACAS, Aug 29 (NNN-XINHUA) — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday unveiled several changes to his cabinet and the leadership at Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), Venezuela’s state-owned oil company.

Lawyer Dheliz Alvarez was named as the new Minister of National Commerce, replacing Colonel Antonio Morales, Communication and Information Minister Freddy Nanez posted on X, the social media app formerly called Twitter.

Alvarez headed the Ministry of National Commerce between October 2021 and January of this year.

Economist Jose Felix Rivas Alvarado replaced Hipolito Abreu as head of the Ministry of Industries and National Production.

Lawyer Jhoanna Carrillo, who was serving as deputy minister at the Ministry of Housing, will head the Ministry of Urban Agriculture, replacing Greycis Barrios.

Maduro also approved the new board of directors at PDVSA, led by Pedro Rafael Tellechea as president of the firm.

Hector Obregon was appointed the PDVSA executive vice president, who since January had served as deputy minister of Digital Economy, Banking, Insurance, and Securities. — NNN-XINHUA
