According to Angelica Matsuda, the executive president of the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru), these awards foster the promotion of Peruvian tourist and cultural attractions at the international level, and contribute to the country’s economic recovery.

“We thank the World Travel Awards for recognizing our natural wonders, our great history, and our delicious gastronomy,” Matsuda remarked.

We will remain committed to the excellence of the tourism sector and the promotion of the cultural heritage so that Peru remains a world-class destination,” she added.

WTA was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

Today, the WTA brand is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

Each year, WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognize and celebrate individual and collective success within each key geographical region.
