Sri Lanka, Thailand To Hold Political Consultations On Aug 28

COLOMBO, Aug 25 (NNN-XINHUA) – The fifth round of bilateral political consultations between Sri Lanka and Thailand will be held on Aug 28, in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today.

The ministry said, the event would be co-chaired by Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary, Aruni Wijewardane, and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Sarun Charoensuwan.

“The consultations are expected to assess the status of bilateral relations, covering ongoing cooperation and areas of shared interest, including political, trade and investment, defence, culture and tourism,” the ministry said.

The fourth round of bilateral political consultations between the two countries was held on Feb 28, 2018, in Colombo.

Sri Lanka is Thailand’s fourth-largest trading partner in South Asia.

In 2022, the total export value from Sri Lanka to Thailand was over 57 million U.S. dollars, an increase of around 11 percent compared to the previous year, according to official data from the Sri Lanka Export Development Board.– NNN-XINHUA
