PA Calls On UN Security Council To Convene Over Gaza Tension

RAMALLAH, Palestine, May 5 (NNN-MA’AN) – The Palestinian Authority (PA) Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Saturday, called on the United Nations Security Council to immediately convene, to stop Israeli aerial strikes on the Gaza Strip.

The PA ministry condemned in an official emailed press statement, “Israeli military aggression on the Gaza Strip’s populations, as well as, targeting defenceless civilians and leaving large destruction.”

“The awful aggression unveils the reality of the racist American and Israeli attitudes, against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories,” said the statement.

Tension between Israel and the Palestinian factions’ militant groups has been flaring since Friday, leaving six Palestinians killed, including two militants and four civilians, with one of them a 14-month-old baby girl, and wounding 60 others.

Israeli war planes and Israeli army artillery continued launching strikes on militants’ facilities and posts all over the coastal enclave.

Earlier on Saturday, an Israeli army spokesman announced that, its war planes destroyed an underground tunnel that belongs to the Islamic Jihad and goes from the town of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip into Israel.

More than 70 military posts and training facilities that belong to various factions’ armed wing were hit by Israeli war planes’ missiles all over the Gaza Strip.– NNN-MA’AN
