Sri Lanka, Singapore To Cooperate On Food Security, Regional Development

SINGAPORE, Aug 23 (NNN-XINHUA) – Sri Lankan President, Ranil Wickremesinghe, met with Singapore leaders, to discuss cooperation on food security and regional economic development, a statement released by the Singapore Foreign Ministry said, yesterday.

During a visit to the city-state, Wickremesinghe called on Singapore President, Halimah Yacob on Monday, and had a fruitful discussion covering food security, renewable energy, and regional economic cooperation, among other issues, the statement said.

Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, met with the Sri Lankan president yesterday. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation, including in trade and food security, according to the statement.

Lee and Wickremesinghe jointly witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, on carbon credits collaboration, under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, it added.– NNN-XINHUA
