SINGAPORE, May 4 (NNN-CNA) – The 34th edition of the Singapore Book Fair (SBF) will return to the heart of Singapore’s historic Civic District, for the second consecutive year, according to a press conference held here.
The annual fair, which is organised by Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) Chinese Media Group, will run from May 31 to June 9, at Capitol Singapore, with the theme “Encounters @ Reading City.” It will be officially opened by Chan Chun Sing, minister for Trade and Industry, on June 1.
More than 30 publishers will be offering a selection of English and Chinese books, including established publishers, which have participated in SBF for many years, such as Union Book, Maha Yu Yi, Fables and the Linking Publishing Company.
Apart from books, the 10-day fair will offer a variety of programmes, including seminars, literary and heritage tours, workshops, movies and music performances.
One of the highlights of SBF 2019 is the writers’ sharing sessions and forums, featuring a line-up of prominent authors and personalities, who will be sharing their writing and creative process.
A book exchange area has been set up for the public, to bring their pre-loved books, to exchange with others. Book donors can pen their reasons for recommending their pre-loved book, so that there will be an exchange of thoughts and feelings with other book lovers.
On the basement level of Capitol Singapore will be a Kids Zone, which will feature storytelling sessions by National Library Board volunteers, children’s art and craft workshops, colouring competitions and photo opportunities with beloved children’s book character, Geronimo Stilton.– NNN-CNA
