PHNOM PENH, Aug 20 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia’s anti-drug police have arrested a foreigner, for allegedly trafficking illicit drugs, confiscating nearly eight kg of narcotics, the Anti-Drug Department (ADP) said, yesterday.
The male suspect, 57, was caught Tuesday night, during a raid on his rental house in Phnom Penh’s Boeung Keng Kang district, after an investigation for months.
“A total of 7.94 kilograms of ketamine was seized in the suspect’s possession, during the crackdown,” the ADP said.
The country has no death sentence for drug trafficking. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life.
According to the ADP, Cambodia nabbed 10,167 drug-related suspects, including 215 foreigners, during the Jan-Jul period of this year, seizing more than 979 kg of narcotics.
Most of seized drugs were heroin, ecstasy, ketamine, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills and cathinone.– NNN-AKP
