Myanmar’s Maritime Trade Amounts Nearly 14 Billion USD In Seven Months

YANGON, Myanmar, May 4 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s maritime trade with foreign countries amounted to over 13.9 billion U.S. dollars as of April 26, in present fiscal year 2018-2019, according to the Commerce Ministry on Saturday.

During the period, the country’s export through sea route reached over 5.3 billion U.S. dollars, while its import was 8.65 billion U.S. dollars.

This fiscal year’s figures decreased by 109 million U.S. dollars compared to the same period of the last FY 2017-2018, when it showed over 14 billion U.S. dollars, the ministry’s figures said.

From Oct 1, 2018, to April 26 this year, the country’s foreign trade totalled over 19.9 billion U.S. dollars with 5.99 billion U.S. dollars’ border trade.

The country’s agricultural products, animal products, fisheries, minerals and forest products are mainly exported, while capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods are imported.– NNN-MNA
