LIMA, Aug 18 (NNN-ANDINA) — Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Mathews said that 1,327,666 foreign tourists arrived in Peru from January to July 2023 —an important figure that denotes a 38.5% increase over the same period in 2022.
These data are reflected in the Monthly Tourism Report until July 2023, prepared by the General Directorate of Tourism-Craft Research and Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
“This figure proves that the promoted actions are on the right path and with a single objective: to increase tourism activity in the country, which generates economic dynamism and important jobs,” Minister Mathews indicated.
“These numbers also reveal that an additional 369,000 foreign visitors arrived in our country during the first seven months compared to 2022,“ he added.
The Cabinet member affirmed that there is a total commitment from Mincetur, PromPeru, Cenfotur, and Plan Copesco Nacional to promote an adequate tourist offer that allows visitors to feel satisfied during their visit to our country.
It is important to highlight that Peru offers first-class hotel infrastructure, tourist services, adequate air and land connectivity, plus an incomparable gastronomy.
The ministry study refers to the fact that among the main source markets for international tourists to Peru, during the first seven months of 2023, are Chile residents (333,771 foreign visitors) accounting for 25.1% of the total.
They are followed by travelers from: the United States (20%; 265,941 foreign visitors), Ecuador (9.2%; 121,826), Colombia (5.9%; 78,793), and Brazil (4.7%; 62,889).
On a regional scale, South America accounted for 54.3% of the total (720,000). It was followed by North America (24.5%; 326,000), Europe (14.5%; 192,000), Asia (3.2%; 42,000), and Central America (2.7%; 36,000). — NNN-ANDINA
