Road Crash Killed 10 In West India

NEW DELHI, Aug 12 (NNN-PTI) – Ten people, including three children and five women, died, and 13 others were injured yesterday in a road crash in western Gujarat state, said a local policeman.

The accident occurred when the vehicle carrying the victims, collided with a stationary truck, on the Bavla-Bagodara highway, in the Ahmedabad district of the state.

The victims were returning from a temple, after performing a religious ceremony in a nearby district, when they met with the mishap. Those injured were admitted to a local hospital.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the loss of lives. He also announced a monetary compensation of 200,000 Indian rupees (around 2,414 U.S. dollars) to the next of kin of each deceased, and 50,000 Indian rupees (around 603 U.S. dollars) for each of those injured.– NNN-PTI
