Foreigners, Including Americans, Held In Afghan Prisons: Media

KABUL, Aug 7 (NNN-ANA) – A number of foreign nationals, including Americans, have been held in Afghanistan’s prisons, local TV TOLOnews reported today.

Without revealing the exact number of imprisoned foreigners in Afghanistan, the caretaker government’s chief spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said, “They have been held in connection with security and other issues such as violation of our laws.”

If proven innocent the detained would be released, and the solution would also be found for those not innocent, TOLOnews quoted Mujahid as saying.

Neither Mujahid nor Tolonews provided more details.

According to media reports, a U.S. delegation met with Afghan officials, led by Acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in late Jul, in the Qatari capital, Doha, upon the release of U.S. nationals.– NNN-ANA
