India To Redevelop Over 500 Railway Stations: Modi

NEW DELHI, Aug 7 (NNN-PTI) – Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, yesterday virtually launched a project of redeveloping 508 railway stations across the country, at an estimated cost of 250 billion Indian rupees (over three billion U.S. dollars) to provide better facilities to the commuters.

The redevelopment of railway stations would include better seating arrangements on platforms, upgraded waiting rooms, and free Wi-Fi connectivity.

Modi said that, his government aims to redevelop a total of 1,300 railway stations, with the foundation stone laid yesterday for developing 508 railway stations.

“The redevelopment project will be a huge campaign for infrastructure development in the country, along with the railways, as well as, the common citizens,” he added.– NNN-PTI
