LIMA, Aug 4 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte affirmed that her administration is committed to a foreign policy supported by a positive and proactive international agenda.
Boluarte participated in the ceremony to commemorate the 202nd Anniversary of Creation of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Within this framework, the Head of State specified that during Peru’s Pro-Tempore Presidency at the Pacific Alliance, common challenges, such as poverty, inequality, and economic reactivation, will be faced by its members.
“You can rest assured that my Government is committed to a foreign policy that meets those objectives, with a positive and purposeful international agenda, which includes leadership in various integration mechanisms,” she expressed.
She announced that next week she will be bringing a message of an inclusive Amazon with human face to the meeting of presidents of the States that are members of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization. The event will take place in Brazil.
President Boluarte pointed out that Peru will make its voice heard at the United Nations General Assembly in September, and the country will maintain a permanent outreach towards Asia through the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum to be led by Peru in 2024.
“Next year, we will also commemorate the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho, which sealed the independence of Peru and the Americas,” she said.
“We will continue to strengthen the path that will lead us to join the OECD, a momentous step that will open the doors of that economic and responsible development to our homeland,” she added.
Furthermore, the Peruvian Head of State thanked her U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, for the invitation to become part of Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity —an initiative that is being worked on with the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“Peru is back; Peru resumes its presence on the international stage, as a country that is committed to dialogue and integration, offering legal stability, clear rules, as well as with a democratic and constitutional order which, despite anything, has been maintained and nowadays is strengthened for the benefit of all Peruvians,” she stated.
Moreover, the top official affirmed that Peru “needs an active Foreign Affairs Ministry that protects compatriots who live abroad.”
Boluarte also thanked Peruvian consulates abroad for their selfless work.
“Together we are laying the foundations for a fairer and more equitable country, a country proud of its history and its identity, a united and reconciled Peru, a solid Peru with international outreach, a country at peace and united in one heart,” she concluded. — NNN-ANDINA
