Iran FM Proposes Ties Downgrading Or Cutting, If Quran Desecration Repeated In Sweden, Denmark

TEHRAN, Aug 2 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, proposed that, Muslim countries should downgrade or cut relations with Sweden and Denmark, if sacrilegious acts against the Quran are repeated in the two Nordic countries.

Amir-Abdollahian elaborated in a tweet early yesterday, the proposals he put forward at an online meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held to discuss the recent desecration of the Islamic holy book in the two European countries.

The Iranian top diplomat said, he suggested that OIC send a delegation to Sweden and Denmark to discuss the issue and demanded the harshest punishment for those who insulted the Quran.

Muslim countries should also sanction the imports of Swedish and Danish products, if desecration of the Quran happens again in the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian added.

Denmark and Sweden have been under the spotlight in recent weeks, after several extremists repeatedly burned or desecrated the Quran in the two countries’ capitals, with consent from their authorities, which sparked criticism from Muslims across the world.– NNN-IRNA
