Five Killed, 20 Injured In Road Crash In Pakistan’s Punjab

ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (NNN-APP) – At least five people were killed and 20 others injured, today in a road crash in the Rajanpur district of Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province, a rescue official said.

District Chief of the Rescue-1122, Aslam, told the media that, a bus overturned after the driver of the vehicle fell asleep and lost control, in the Fazilpur area of Rajanpur.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital. The rescue official feared that the death toll might rise because several of the injured were in critical condition.

The bus, with pilgrims onboard, was on its way back to Jacobabad district, from a shrine of Sufi saint, Sakhi Sarwar, in the south region of Punjab.

The deceased and injured passengers also included women and two children, who belonged to the same village.

Local police ordered a blood test of the bus driver, who was also injured in the accident, fearing that he might take hashish before starting the journey.– NNN-APP
