JAKARTA, Jul 28 (NNN-ANTARA) – Hot lava slid 1.8 km from the crater of Indonesia’s Merapi volcano, which erupted repeatedly yesterday.
According to Mount Merapi Monitoring Post officer, Yulianto, the smoke from the crater rose to 350 metres above the peak. People are advised to stay away from a radius of seven km in the south-west sector, and five km in the south-east sector of the summit, and avoid the rivers that feed into and flow away from the mountain.
Located in the provinces of Yogyakarta and Central Java, Merapi is currently in the third level of danger. The potential dangers of this mountain are lava avalanches and hot clouds.– NNN-ANTARA
