Afghan Police Destroyed Drug Lab In N. Afghanistan, 11 Arrested

AYBAK, Afghanistan, Jul 28 (NNN-ANA) – The Counter-Narcotics police discovered a drug processing lab in north Afghanistan’s Samangan province, a statement by the Ministry of Interior Affairs said, yesterday.

Without providing more details, the statement added, the police had arrested 11 people on charges of involvement in drug trafficking in Takhar, Kapisa, Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces.

A statement by Samangan’s provincial police office said, the drug-processing lab was discovered and destroyed in Ruyi Duab district, recently.

In similar operations, police arrested two drug smugglers in west Afghanistan’s Herat province and seized illegal objects from their possession, last week.

The Afghan caretaker government vowed to fight against drugs and poppy cultivation, until the once poppy-growing country gets rid of the drug menace.– NNN-ANA
