Maduro Urges the Armed Forces to Defend Democracy and Peace

CARACAS, May 3 (NNN-Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday called on the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) to maintain unity in defense of the Constitution, Venezuelan democracy and peace.
During a military parade held this Thursday in Fuerte Tiuna, Caracas, the President asserted Venezuela has a military institution that is consistent, loyal, cohesive and united as never before, in the face of coup attempts perpetrated by sectors of the right under the designs of the United States.

Venezuelan government halted an attempted coup d’etat on April 30 through a series of actions aimed at countering false information, controlling a small group of military rebels with the minimum use of force, and calling on the population to support legitimate authorities.

The Head of State acknowledged the Venezuelan people’s capacity for resistance and the exemplary performance of the FANB, which was able to overcome – with the minimum use of force – threats and provocations aimed at transgressing the constitutional order in the country.

Maduro was welcomed at Fort Tiuna by the Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez; the Strategic Operational Commander, Remigio Ceballos, and other members of the General Staff and the military high command.
