India Attributes Price Fluctuations Of Vegetables To Climate-Related Calamities

NEW DELHI, Jul 26 (NNN-PTI) – The Indian government said yesterday, the occasional price fluctuations of vegetables are not due to a shortage in supplies, but are caused by climate-related calamities.

The federal agriculture minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, said, the country does not have a supply deficit in the case of vegetable crops.

Last month, prices of tomatoes, an essential ingredient in Indian cuisine, skyrocketed in India. The retail prices across major cities remained up to three U.S. dollars a kilo.– NNN-PTI
