AMMAN, Jul 23 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s Foreign Ministry, yesterday, condemned the burning of the Muslim holy book, the Quran, in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen.
The ministry labelled the move as “an act of hatred and a form of Islamophobia” that incited violence against religions, according to a statement by the ministry.
The ministry also reiterated its criticism and rejection of such irresponsible acts that provoke the feelings of Muslims, fuel hatred, and threaten peaceful coexistence.
It called for efforts to prevent the repetition of such acts, by enacting laws that criminalise extremism, religious hatred, and the desecration of religious symbols and sanctities, while promoting peace, harmony, tolerance and acceptance of others.
On Friday, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Swedish charge d’affairs over the recent desecration of the Quran in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.– NNN-PETRA
