KHARTOUM, July 16 (NNN-XINHUA) — The Sudanese Armed Forces said Saturday that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targetted a hospital in the city of Omdurman in a drone attack earlier in the day, killing five people and wounding 22 others, mostly civilians.
The army said in a press statement that the attack hit the emergency complex of the Military Medical Corps Hospital in Omdurman, northwest of the capital Khartoum, accusing the RSF of violating international humanitarian law and all conventions of war.
The statement noted the hospital’s emergency complex receives emergency cases of both civilians and military personnel alike since its establishment.
The Sudanese Ministry of Health said in a press release issued earlier that four civilians were killed and four others wounded in the RSF’s attack at the emergency department of the military hospital.
There was no immediate comment from the RSF.
Since April 15, Sudan has been witnessing armed confrontations between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF across Sudan, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths and more than 6,000 injuries, according to official statistics. — NNN-XINHUA
