Peru: 5 dead, 20 injured in two buses road crash

LIMA, July 10 (NNN-XINHUA) — Five people were killed and more than 20 injured Sunday after a minibus collided with a public transit bus in the Comas district of Peru’s Lima province, Radio Programas del Peru reported.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. local time in the Collique neighborhood, said the report, citing information from the Health Ministry.

The bus stopped at a hazardous turn in the Pasamayito Highway known as the “devil’s curve” when the minibus barreled into it at high speed. Pasamayito connects Comas with another district.

Some of the injured were discharged from the hospital but several are in the intensive care unit, the ministry said on social media.

According to eyewitnesses, the minibus overturned after the collision.

Area residents gathered at the scene of the accident to help the injured, along with members of the National Police and the Fire Department. — NNN-XINHUA
