NAIROBI, May 14 (NNN-KBC) – Another Kenyan family that lost kin in Ethiopian Airline crash has filed a complaint against US aircraft manufacturer Boeing Corporation.
The family also filed a complaint against Rosemount Aerospace Inc, manufacturer of the sensor software system (MCAS) meant to aid in aircraft maneuvering.
The suit was brought forth by Mr. Fredrick Karanja Mungai, as father and Special Administrator of the Estate of the late Helen Waithira Karanja.
The matter (Case No. 1:19-CV-02770) was filed last week on April 24, 2019 in US District Court, Northern District of Illinois, by the lead attorney aviation law expert Carlos Velasquez (Velasquez Dolan Arias PA) and Laban Opande (The Opande Law Firm), and assisted by Illinois local attorney Lawrence Ruder (Ruder Law LLC).
Carlos A. Velasquez, a leading US Aviation Law attorney, and Laban O. Opande, a US Personal Injury and US Immigration Law attorney, have been retained by several families to assist them with the anticipated complex litigation which often arise from such accidents.
With assistance from some Kenyan based lawyers, the American lawyers have returned to Kenya to meet with their clients and other families who lost their relatives in this tragic accident.
The first Kenyan family to sue filed a suit against Boeing for allegedly prioritising profits at the expense of passengers’ safety. Through US-based aviation law and personal injury firm, Husain Law & Associates, the family accused Boeing of being a “reckless example” of a company fixated with increasing sales while disregarded safety concerns.
The family lost their kin, George Kabau, a 29-year-old electrical engineer who was working with General Electric until the fatal crash. The suit was filed in US Federal court in Illinois State.
