Myanmar’s Police Seized Narcotic Drugs Worth Millions

YANGON, Jul 7 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar police have seized narcotics worth 650 million kyats (over 309,523 U.S. dollars) in Shan State, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), late yesterday.

Acting on a tipoff, the anti-narcotic police, searched a vehicle in Nyaungshwe township of southern Shan State on Tuesday, and confiscated the illicit drugs, the CCDAC said.

The seized narcotic drugs included 20 kilograms of methamphetamine (ICE), and 500,000 stimulant tablets, it said.

A suspect was arrested for the case, it said.

According to investigations, the narcotics are being transported from Namsang township in northern Shan state to Kalaw township in southern Shan state, the CCDAC said.

The suspect was charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.– NNN-MNA
