Fire In North India Claimed Four Lives

NEW DELHI, Jul 4 (NNN-PTI) – At least four persons, including a woman, died, and a few were injured, when a fire broke out at a commercial building, having electronic showrooms and other offices, in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh, a local police confirmed, over the phone today.

The mishap occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district, Sipri Bazar area, last night. A few persons were still missing, and relief and rescue work was going on at the site, said media reports.

Seven persons having burn injuries were rescued and admitted to a local hospital. The woman who died was a senior official of an insurance company, added the reports.

The Indian Army was called in to control the situation, and around 55 fire tenders were rushed in to douse the fire. It took 12 hours to bring the fire under control.

A search operation was being carried out at the site, to ensure that there wasn’t any dead body inside, Superintendent of Police, Rajesh S., told media.– NNN-PTI
