PHNOM PENH, Jul 2 (NNN-AKP) – Six people have been killed in a fire, at an under-repair nightclub in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, a municipal police spokesman, said.
The blaze broke out at 5.00 p.m. local time yesterday, at a nightclub in the capital’s Tuol Kork district, Phnom Penh Municipal Police spokesman, San Sok Seiha, said.
“Four men and two women were pronounced dead in the fire,” he said, adding that, the cause of the fire was under investigation.
Cambodia recorded a total of 454 fire accidents across the country in 2022, killing 42 people and injuring 55 others, according to the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM).
According to the NCDM, a major fire killed 26 people at the Grand Diamond City hotel and casino in Poipet, a town that shares borders with Thailand, on Dec 28 last year.– NNN-AKP
