HARARE, July 1 (NNN-XINHUA) — The Zimbabwean government on Friday signed an agreement with the EU for the bloc to observe the country’s general elections set for August.
This follows President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s invitation to international organizations to observe the elections.
The agreement was signed between Zimbabwe’s Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Amon Murwira and EU Ambassador to Zimbabwe Jobst von Kirchmann.
Murwira said the EU Election Observer Mission (EU EOM) is expected to maintain strict impartiality, objectivity and independence in the conduct of its mandate.
The Zimbabwean government will provide the EU EOM with any assistance required to implement its mandate, Murwira said. — NNN-XINHUA
