WELLINGTON, New Zealand, April 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – New Zealand police located a package, containing a suspected explosive device and ammunition, at a vacant address on Newcastle Street, in Christchurch, a police statement said on Tuesday (today).
A 33-year-old man was arrested, and is currently speaking to the police regarding the incident.
Houses on Newcastle, Glasgow and Harrow streets were being evacuated as a precaution.
The New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, fire, emergency and ambulance services, were also in place.
A no-fly zone was in place over the area.– NNN- AGENCIES
