NEW DELHI, Jun 29 (NNN-PTI) – At least six people were killed and 15 others injured, some critically, after a chariot came into contact with an overhead high-tension wire, in India’s north-eastern state of Tripura yesterday, officials said.
The incident took place in the Kumarghat area of Unakoti district, about 120 km north-east of Agartala, the capital city of Tripura.
According to officials, the chariot, carrying deities, as part of a religious procession, was being pulled by numerous devotees when the accident happened.
The injured individuals have been admitted to a government hospital. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.– NNN-PTI
