LIMA, June 14 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision of the United States of America to rejoin the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as of July 2023.

This was announced by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to the representatives of the 193 Member States on Monday in Paris.

Thus, the government agency pointed out that Peru expresses its deep appreciation for the U.S. Government’s approach to multilateralism.

Likewise, it stated that its return will have a significant impact on the work carried out by the Organization in favor of culture, education, science, and information throughout the world.

In a post on Twitter, Audrey Azoulay said that this is a strong act of confidence in UNESCO —the concrete result of the action taken in recent years to reduce political tensions and launch ambitious new projects.

In this regard, she underlined that said work makes the Organization more efficient.

Moreover, the UNESCO Director-General congratulated all Member States and UNESCO staff for the great team effort. — NNN-ANDINA
