SEOUL, Jun 8 (NNN-YONHAP) – Fourteen people were injured today, as an escalator in a subway station malfunctioned.
One of the upward escalators at the subway station in Seongnam, some 20 km south of Seoul, ran in reverse around 8:20 a.m. local time (2320 GMT Wednesday).
Three people were seriously injured in their back and legs and taken to a nearby hospital. Eleven others were under treatment for relatively minor injuries.
The fire authorities and the police were investigating the exact cause of the accident, based on eyewitness accounts.– NNN-YONHAP
