This will mean the arrival in Peru of more than 8,000 delegates, who —in turn— will represent revenue for tourism and consumptionAmbassador Chavez-Taffur indicated.

Similarly, the diplomat underscored that, since the country’s entry into this forum, exports to the Asia-Pacific region have increased at a rate of 12% per year, reaching US$40 billion as a whole.

The APEC forum hosts 21 economies. Among them are some of the world’s major powers.

Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam are members of this bloc.

Peru held the APEC Presidency in 2008 and 2016, playing the role of the Leaders’ Summit host on both occasions.
