Sam Rainsy has left Malaysia – Foreign Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (NNN-Bernama) — Former Cambodian Opposition leader Sam Rainsy left Malaysia Wednesday morning, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was not informed of Sam Rainsy’s presence in the country, said the ministry.

“No public programme was held during his stay here,” read the statement.

According to Khmer Times, Rainsy, a co-founder of the now-banned political party Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), has been living in self-exile.

He fled to France in 2015 to avoid arrest.
